Senior Sheetmetal Tradesperson

About the role

Faber Group is seeking an experienced Senior Sheetmetal Tradesperson to join our team in Narrabri, NSW.

This is a full-time leadership position where you will be responsible for performing highly skilled sheetmetal folding and fabrication, overseeing a small team of apprentices and managing production for the critical section.

You will work as part of a larger dedicated team to deliver high quality Faber Toolboxes and other sheet metal solutions for our loyal customers.

What you’ll be doing

• Undertake sheetmetal folding and fabrication to a high standard

• Operate a range of specialist sheetmetal CNC machinery and equipment

• Oversee and provide guidance to 1-2 apprentices in various stages of training and development

• Manage production and organise workflow for the sheetmetal section and contribute to overall production with other team leaders and senior leadership

• Create, interpret and refine technical drawings and specifications to produce and/or improve complex sheetmetal components and collaborate with the design team on product development

• Ensure all work is completed to schedule safely and to required quality standards

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop

What we’re looking for

• Trade qualification in Sheetmetal Fabrication or a related discipline

• 3+ years of experience as a qualified sheetmetal tradesperson

• Strong background in operating modern CNC machinery

• Practical knowledge of LEAN Manufacturing practices and a keen interest in continuous improvement

• Experience supervising a team of employees and trainees with a focus on supportive leadership

• Experience scheduling and overseeing workflow for a large number of components

• Proven ability to create, read and interpret detailed technical drawings and specifications. Solidworks experience favourable.

• Strong work ethic and commitment to quality and safety

• Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment

• Forklift and Drivers licence favourable
