Celebrating more than 30 years, CMAX is one of Australia’s largest, longest running and most experienced clinical trial units conducting successful world-leading research for local and international clients, specialising in a range of early-phase trials and first-time-in-human studies.
These studies have resulted in the advancement of global medicines and technologies, from cancer treatment and pain control to early warning bio-devices and hormone replacement therapies.
CMAX operates a 78-bed capacity state-of-the-art facility, primely positioned opposite the Royal Adelaide Hospital and are part of the growing BioMed City precinct.Â
About the role:
The Proposals Manager is required to perform a range of activities aimed at maintaining and improving the pipeline of clinical trials conducted at CMAX Clinical Research, and therefore the ongoing financial stability of the organisation.
The Proposals Manager is responsible for the oversight of all proposals and the competitive bidding process for new trials and business. They are also responsible for developing and maintaining the budget and proposal tools and templates and deployment of training in their use.Â
Reporting to the Chief Business Development Officer, the Proposals Manager will provide effective support in the following areas:

Manage the budget and proposal development process for all CMAX studies. This includes ensuring adequate proposals team resource is available and allocated to meet deadlines;

Ensure that CMAX respond to new business opportunities in a way that maximises CMAX’s chances of winning new studies;

Work with the Business Development (BD) Team to develop proposals/Request for Proposals (RFPs) that speaks to the client’s needs, concerns and objectives;

Meet potential clients and the decision makers within these organisations, as required;

Oversee the process of pricing CMAX services;

Support maintenance and refinement of Customer Relationship Management, budget and proposals tools and templates;

Gather business intelligence information, including competitor pricing and service offerings to protect CMAX’s competitiveness;

Deputise for Chief Business Development Officer during periods of absence (e.g. international travel or annual leave) to ensure BD operations are uninterrupted;

Maintenance of positive relationships with key collaborating institutions, vendors and individuals;

Support CMAX personnel (e.g. Clinical Project Managers) through the provision of budget updates which appropriately reflect relevant changes to the study protocol, in order for the BD Team to generate contract amendments;

As a member of CMAX management, be committed to excellence and continuous improvement across the organisation;

Be accountable for the quality and effectiveness of the budgeting and proposals process at CMAX;

With the support of the Chief Business Development Officer, manage and monitor the performance of supervised staff members through the provision of regular and constructive feedback.
About you:

Tertiary qualification in a health or science related discipline is desirable or demonstrated knowledge or experience in this area;

A high level of interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication skills, and negotiation and influencing skills. Able to maintain diplomacy, tact and professionalism in external communications;

Genuine interest and willingness to acquire knowledge in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical technology sector;

Ability to work independently and to contribute successfully in a team environment;

Capacity to make rational decisions based on experience, knowledge of desired business outcomes and in consultation with relevant CMAX personnel;

Ability to quickly transition between tasks which may change in priority at short notice;

Proven ability to work with accuracy and apply strong attention to detail;

Ability to forward plan work activities based on anticipated workload and available time;

Sound knowledge of, and ability to work successfully within, rigorous standards, protocols and regulations, including ICH GCP preferred.
